Profuse as in THE BLOOD

Yesterday I was inspired to write a blog titled Realization vs Realize how appropriate it was to see the word prompt today for the word “profuse” this without planning on my part might be thought of as a continuation of my previous blog of yesterday.

My favorite devotion and of course immediately when I read the word prompt for today, I thought of the one prayer I daily repeat, “Blood of Christ, shed profusely in the Scourging.”
For those interested but are not acquainted with the Litany of the Precious Blood continue reading.   PointingAngel

This litany of prayers focuses on the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Precious Blood. The mini-prayer quoted above is only one of several aspirations contained. Aspiration in the sense of the word to mean a strong desire of hope.

“Blood of Christ shed profusely in the Scourging.”

We can look to 1 Peter 1:17-19 to see where this teaching is found recorded in the Bible. “Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like gold or silver, from your vain conversation of the tradition of your fathers: But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb unspotted and undefiled.”(1 Pet 1:17-19)
Haydock’s Catholic Bible Commentary, 1859 edition further explains. 1 Peter Chapter. (above)
“They could only hope for salvation by believing in Christ, by the price of whose Precious Blood they were redeemed from their sins, as they had heard by the word of the gospel preached to them.
Haydock’s commentary compliments are with that of St. Paul, of St. James, of St. John, and of the other apostles, that to be saved it is not enough to have faith or hope in Christ.”

The devotion to Jesus specifically in His most Precious Blood was first popularized by St. Gaspar del Bufalo (1786-1837, feast Dec. 28) who founded the Missioners of the Most Precious Blood.
