ForgivingConnects (One word) inspired this little post here, enjoy the read about forgiveness. If it is God you need forgiveness from remember there isn’t any sin greater than the MERCY OF GOD.
***********
Consider the prayer known as “The Lord’s Prayer” recorded in the Book of Matthew and the Book of Luke, the Bible. The Bible is the word of God.
About the subject of FORGIVENESS!
“Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”
Meaning —> For if you forgive men their offenses, your heavenly Father will forgive you your transgressions. But if you will not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive you your offenses. (frightening to think about)
It is therefore when you consider the consequences of not forgiving; easier to forgive, however forgetting takes longer, but with a prayer that to will come sooner than you think. Just relax and let it happen.
This is a hard truth for many too bear. We want to pretend Jesus did not say this because we do not want to forgive some people. But He did say it, and it is an essential teaching for our salvation. We dare not ignore it.

Yes, Pete please post on your blog your words about the subject of forgiveness and the Word of God. I know that your post will do justice and complement the Gospels as your words always do.

What a nice thing too say! I will get to that while going through the Sermon on the Mount, and I have addressed it in the past. https://petergardner.wordpress.com.2018/01/06/let-it-go. Powerful subject, for sure.

Good point: the mercy of God is greater than any sin.

This is beautiful. Thank you for sharing your experience with forgiveness for #ForgivingFridays! I too appreciate your focus on mercy, and relaxing and letting it happen.
I’m not sure about God needing to forgive us. I see it as love is all there is, so it’s us awakening to the truth of that. Thank you again! Many blessings, Debbie

The Lord’s prayer was composed by Jesus Christ and is recorded in the Bible, clearly, it says as I since bolded the text in the post above “Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.” The text is asking for forgiveness from The Father Almighty. We are expected to make reparation for our sins, not just presume. My Catholic understanding is God loves all of us, as a good parent would love their child, however, when the child matures enough to offend their parents, the parents still love their child but expect an apology. Salvation is not automatic as some believers presume it is. Look at
Matthew chapter 7 22;23 powerful words there.
