To smile is kind, meek, mild and reserved,
while a smirk is self, vain filled with pride.
A smirk delivers egotism —
The smile presents an invitation of delight!
But the meek shall inherit the land, and shall delight in abundance of peace.
[Psalms 36:11]

Nice ending with an invitation of delight in a smile. I’ve heard that smiling, even when one doesn’t feel like it, is good for one’s mental health.

Indeed a smile evokes a good feeling while a smirk distances you…much prefer a smile

Yes, I had never really thought about the connotations of a smirk…..until now. A nice comparison and reminder.

Indeed… a true smile is something different that a smirk or a grin… yet I think we often pretend it to be smiles.
