Tonight’s poetry form is called Kwansaba Poetry. From Brewer, “The kwansaba is a poetic form invented by Eugene B. Redmond in 1995. It was inspired by the seven-day holiday of Kwanzaa, including its seven principles of unity, self-determination, collective work, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.”
Here are the guidelines:
- Poem of praise
- Seven lines
- Seven words per line
- No word exceeds seven letters
- Celebration of family and African-American culture
My humble attempt to the challenge can be read below:
Ever love for the human race wins!
A heart filled with wonder and love!
Catch that smile from me to you —
The same always from pole to pole.
Praise Our God united as we sing.
Songs of Wisdom knowing other ways bring
Sorrow with tears to wash our face.
Nicely done! I especially love your line Praise Our God united as we sing 💙💙
