“Give light, and the darkness will disappear of itself.”
by Desiderius Erasmus
“Let their way become dark and slippery, and let the angel of the Lord pursue them.” Psalms 34:6
God said, “Let there be light.”
Did He create dark as well, or
was darkness always there?
I wonder. Dark the absence of light!

Hi Myrna, Thanks so much for participating in #WQWWC this week. Two perfect quotes for this challenge. As Colleen wrote in her response, dark and light do go together. You ask a great question. Did God create darkness? Wow. Did God create disease? God is good. Those statements don’t seem to go together.
We think of dark and disease both as bad, but maybe we need to rethink what we consider as bad. Depending on our perspective and where we look, we experience differing amounts of light. At night, these is less light, making it easier for us to sleep. So in that case, dark is good. Total darkness is eerie and stops all human activity. During a cave tour, when we got to the room at the end of the tour, the guide turned out the lights that had lit our way. I had never experienced total darkness. We couldn’t see anything. In that case, the cave was not a void as it was when God created. If we had tried to walk around, we would have bumped into things, but our brains could not register their presence until we felt them. If we had stayed in the dark very long, we would have been afraid because we didn’t know what else might be in that room besides humans, and we couldn’t defend ourselves.
The same is true of disease, I think. Disease and illness makes us slow down and rest, reconsider our lives, rely on God for strength when we don’t have it, allow others to help us and be strong for us. Yet it is fearful if it doesn’t go away right away.
So did God create darkness, or is it a natural result of the creation of light? Great question.
Thanks again for the pingback and great response to the challenge. Don’t forget to include a link to #WQWWC in your post. https://tchistorygal.net/2020/12/02/wqwwc-1-light-or-lights/ You are also welcome to use the logo, if you want. 🙂 Have a great week.
