Did you ever wonder why?

Otherwise known as WATER

Most of us, all of us post our life, beliefs, feelings as I do! Aquatic or Water my first thoughts here. Thanks to Weekly Prompts for the inspiration!

***********************************

Did you ever wonder why God chose water for the Sacrament of Baptism? Baptism washes away original sin, the sin we all inherited from Adam and Eve. Water is the outward sign necessary in which the Sacrament washes away this deadly sin.

Continue to read a Bible commentary from the book of Romans:
Romans 6:23 according to Haydock's commentary, "For the wages, which the tyrant sin gives to his soldiers and slaves, is eternal death; but the wages, the pay, the reward, which God gives to those that fight under him, is everlasting life; which, though a reward of our past labours, as it is often called in the Scriptures, is still a grace, or free gift; because if our works are good, or deserve a reward in heaven, it is God's grace that makes them deserve it. For, as St. Augustine says, when God crowns our works, he crowns his own gifts." (Witham)

Yes, without water we are dead in more ways than one.

  1. Dunking is best, however, the Church allows pouring, not sprinkling, as long as the pouring of the water flows across the forehead precisely the same time the words are said, Baptising you in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, not after not before the water is poured, but at the same time. Baptism is such a grave important sacrament that dunking was not always possible, therefore pouring was allowed. In other words the water must FLOW, not possible when only sprinkled. Thank you for your comment.
