A Six Sentence Story

WordPress is the place to be these days of uncertainly, not only do you have an opportunity to voice your solutions/opinions to what is going on in the world, but you can accept all different challenges from other creative bloggers like this one —> Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and another edition of Six Sentence Stories!

The prompt word on this challenge is EXPLORE!

***************

Not so long ago, during an era when family gatherings were not frowned upon, it so happened a happy celebration was in progress.

The story begins with a playful grandma wanting to explore her young grandson’s mind with conversation during a joyful party while enjoying sitting together near the table settings with fun things to munch on, lots of yummy fruits, and tasty treats.

Suddenly the nearby phone rings … r i n g -r i n g!

Grandma’s foolery outshined her as she grabbed the banana off the table, put it up to her ear, and said, “hello!”

“Hello, who is this speaking please?”

The confused grandson looked up at her with the most serious look on his face, whispered, “grandma, that is A banana!”

My Letter to God

My post today is combining two inspirations from our popular Marsha Always Write and dVerse introduction with Verse Epistle (poetic letter;} my letter can be read near the bottom of this post, you can’t miss!

Quotes on family

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.” -Helen Keller

with your family in the beautiful land of life!” -Albert Einstein

There are evil people today who want to destroy the family. We must not allow their narrative to rule. You know who and what they are!

Families are gifts from God, a mother, father, and if God blessed you with little ones, take care of their souls and bodies. Perhaps it was God’s blessings and His will that a loving couple adopts.

Four adopted grandchildren are a vital force within my family. I love them, and they, in turn, give love. I often wonder what life would be without them for all of us.

From the Bible, we read in Mark chapter 10, verse 6:

“But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female. For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother; and shall cleave to his wife. And they two shall be in one flesh. Therefore now they are not two, but one flesh.”

Below I am inspired by dVerse suggestion to write a poetic letter; my attempt at the Verse Epistle

Letter to God,
Dear Master, did I ever thank you for my family?
Whatever would I do without this gift from you?
It is true they keep me quite busily.

My mother would often say when children are young, they step on your toes; when older, they step on your heart. Isn't that what we all do to you? Did I ever say sorry? Thank you for another day, an opportunity to say just that. How sorry I am for having offended you.

Of all the gifts you have blessed me, is my family defined as LOVE, the greatest gift of all. Thank you, I can't say that enough; I am so grateful.

Continue pouring down your grace on this world, never give up on us, PLEASE!
With returning love,
Just me again!

My letter above in poetic form below

Mom's words I remember well
Wise in what she wanted to tell
Family steps on toes and hearts

I, too, like a child, offended you
Isn't that what we all do?
Thank you for another day

Did I ever say sorry dear Lord?
Today together in needful accord.
Sorry always for offending you

This greatest gift of Love you gave
Even when I misbehave
My family, my treasure all from you

One more thing before I end
Continue; your grace we depend
Never give up, trusting you !
Ah! Another Challenge, Word Prompts

Classic Movie — The Well

Another prompt and or challenge from Saturday Mix AND see here for the instructions, this week we are dipping our toes into the pool of OPPOSITES. Our challenge is all about “opposing forces” and the use of antithesis in our writing. You will need to use the two opposing words in your response –
Our words this week are:
– unite and divide
– hope and hopeless

The above words, a challenge of four opposing words that come together remind me of a black and white classic movie recently published on YouTube. One of those edge of the seat stories, full of emotion; a story about how a people divided come together and unite in a crisis. A tale of hopelessness that wrought hope to a community in a racially mixed American town.

A 5-year-old black girl falls unnoticed into a hidden, forgotten well on her way to school. Having nothing better to go on, the police follow up a report that the child was seen with a white stranger, and rumors run wild.

If your time prevents you from viewing this lively and exciting account created in 1951, but so relevant today, add it on your bucket list for later.

Why Blog why the Voice?

Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt for this week is the word “ORGAN.”

I had no idea that the word “organ” meant other than an instrument or a biological term. Not, until I check the thesaurus and found an entire catalog of understandings, such as the word “mouthpiece, or voice or channel.” Looking at these words, perhaps we could add the word “blogger” to it.

Speaking of blogging these definitions remind me of why I started a few months ago, last November.

My story began while caring for my dying husband after 50 years of marriage and my very elderly mother who passed away one year later after he did. It wasn’t till then that I found value in everything they wrote and left behind for me to pick up such as a list for the grocery store in my husband’s case; or my mom’s lifestyle she would write down random words, over and over, that she would not forget them. I discovered then when I picked up those pieces of paper with their words and saw the value in them. A little treasure, part of them, their thoughts!

Blogging, the reason why I write now, my loved ones hopefully will someday see what I yearn to say to them, but lack time to hear my words.
The second chance will ultimately prove words will evolve into that treasure. A treasure we all seek to find and hope never to lose.

Consider too, that you also are an organ, a mouthpiece, a voice to your readers and your loved ones. Offer them valuable advice, make them proud of your thoughts about life and how you coped with the experiences both high and low.

Comment below what brought you to this wonderful activity of blogging, knowing is always fun and gives you something to think about besides your next blog post.
