Ragtag Daily Prompt / RDP

You Decide

Prompt word is MASK

If you laugh it’s a LIMERICK, if you don’t it’s an ATTEMPT at one!

You decide

2020 we wore a dreaded mask
Why?—”pray tell” would some even dare to ask
What a dreaded year said we
Soon again we will be free!!!
Laughing all the way! Upping for the task?

Ah! Another Challenge, poetry

Something Different in Poetry

We thank Donna Matthews from Go Dog Go Cafe

Tonight’s poetry form is called Kwansaba Poetry. From Brewer, “The kwansaba is a poetic form invented by Eugene B. Redmond in 1995. It was inspired by the seven-day holiday of Kwanzaa, including its seven principles of unity, self-determination, collective work, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.”

Here are the guidelines:

  • Poem of praise
  • Seven lines
  • Seven words per line
  • No word exceeds seven letters
  • Celebration of family and African-American culture

My humble attempt to the challenge can be read below:

Ever love for the human race wins!
A heart filled with wonder and love!
Catch that smile from me to you —
The same always from pole to pole.
Praise Our God united as we sing.
Songs of Wisdom knowing other ways bring
Sorrow with tears to wash our face.

dVerse, Word Prompts

A Stream, a Birthday, A Forever

Read a challenge today; although I feel “despondent” the prompt word, my first notion was to pass. Feeling sort of blue, because it is someone’s birthday, Aug.13th!  A few hours later I read on dVerse a challenge and thought hmmm!  I closed my eyes, with my fingers as my voice I spoke hidden words.

August 13th

Today, so long ago my husband was born, eighty-one years!
I didn’t know him at that time, I wasn’t even here, there or anywhere.
His life came and went, gone now, but lives somewhere else I know.
Someday I will follow him, as I did when he came to be. I followed him then, and I will follow him again in eternity.
